About

The Institute for protection of cultural monuments and Museum Bitola (IMB) aims at the protection, systematization, scientific processing and presentation of the heritage (historical, technological, ethnological, archeological etc.) in the Municipality of Bitola and nearby regions. In order to accomplish these tasks the IMB operate on various levels: studies, researches and processes based on scientific methods in the field of protection of cultural monuments; expert supervision on operations of conservation and restoration of cultural monuments; technical protective measures for cultural monuments; organization of continuous exhibitions, occasional and mobile exhibitions, lectures, seminars and courses, presentation of films and other forms of activities, in order to better familiarize the citizens with the Museum’s material and their educational and cultural ascension; provision of proper conditions for usage and scientific and professional study of museum material.

Role in the project

The goal of the IMB is to provide the necessary historical information for the city areas planned for 4D virtual urban art, in accordance with the cultural heritage protection regulations of Republic of Macedonia and the Local Urban Development Plan for the Municipality of Bitola. In the project, the role of the IMB is to put its activities of protection, systematization, scientific processing and presenting heritage of the city’s history by historical, technological, cultural, ethnological and archeological means, into the service of the future of Bitola’s citizens in order to both “travel in time” and to develop collaboratively opinions and ideas how to address current challenges of urban life. The museum also coordinates and manages the artist and citizen involvement in the creative processes during the implementation of the project. Activities will be coordinated with the Gauss Institute Bitola.
